On behalf of DAPSY Perak, I hereby issue a statement of condemnation of an article published in the blog 1sya.com titled:
The Story Behind Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming Corruption Scandal (http://1sya.com/?p=4287)
The article, which has been reproduced in several other well circulated blog portals, is an anathema to healthy political discourse. Not only does it insult the level of political maturity the Malaysian public has achieved; it shows political naivety and irresponsibility on the part of the author.
The opinions of the blog’s author (believed to be Shen Yee Aun), are a cheap reproduction of the falsehoods peddled by the Perak State Exco in the last Perak State Assembly sitting. It is only too clear that the attempted misdirection by Zambry and his EXCOs was solely to divert the public’s attention from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) front benchers’ questions on a series of covered up land scandals worth billions of ringgit.
Questions were raised in the state assembly, with very detailed facts attached, supporting the cronyism practiced by BN in the approval of vast areas of state land to individuals and companies with close BN connections. However BN’s avoidance of the topic and their deafening silence on the questions posed are sufficient for anyone to conclude that the BN state government of Perak are part of the cover-up.
After Zambry and his EXCOs threw those wild allegations irresponsibly into the sanctimonious immunity of the legislative assembly, no further statements or information have been released by BN. Instead of challenging those whom they accuse through the police, the courts and the MACC, they resorted to influencing the mainstream media and commissioning anonymous bloggers to do their dirty work, thus preventing their own hands from getting dirty.
The above-mentioned article quite clearly demonstrates how political naivety can easily be manipulated by the powers that be, and how those self-same powers hide behind ordinary Malaysian citizens to avoid criticism themselves. Indeed, it will be the author who will suffer from any resultant legal action taken because of this article, not BN.
The extensive details issued by Sdr Ngeh Koo Ham, Sdr Wong Kah Who and many other observers and commentators including myself, have proven that the Kelantan land scandal accusations are nothing but baseless slanderous lies. As upholders of the truth we, DAPSY, DAP and Pakatan Rakyat, are of the view that anyone knowingly spreading a lie is just as guilty as the fabricator of the lie.
It is reasonable for me to conclude that the author of the blog has not read our clarifying statements or rebuttals; in which case he is not qualified to comment, let alone spread these wild allegations.
If he is aware of the real story, which has been extensively publicised on FB, TWITTER, and many news portals and blogs, legal action could be taken against him.
In the spirit of fair and just representation and healthy political discourse I put forward the following proposals;
- · I request that Shen Yee Aun either confirm or deny that he is the author of the abovementioned article.
- · I demand the author of the said article provide proof for ALL the allegations that he has made
- · I challenge the author to a public debate on the issue of land scandals in Perak, since he seems to be so knowledgeable on the topic, with the following conditions
i. To ensure that the author does not feel disadvantaged, and since the article was written in English, I am happy for the medium of debate to be in English.
ii. To ensure that the author is prepared and wouldn’t be caught off guard, we will limit the subject of debate to land disputes/scandals within Perak.
iii. The author may bring a debating partner of his choice, and I will also invite a partner accordingly.
Typical of BN cybertroopers, the author employed the tactic of ‘fabrication over fact’, and made wild allegations before verification. This cowardly strategy of tarnishing the names of opposition leaders just goes to demonstrate yet another reason why BN can no longer be entrusted with the responsibility of governing our nation. Furthermore, it is high time that we cleansed our Malaysian corridors of power of deceitful and undignified individuals.
DAPSY will not let go of any opportunity to uphold the truth, especially when falsehoods are used to slander individuals of integrity. Let these challenges be the first of many measures to enlighten all Malaysians of the despicable acts of desperation employed by BN, and to really show the people that PR will not give-up, nor give in, until ‘justice flows like water and righteousness like a mighty stream’.
